Uncorked

These past few weekends my Mom and I have been taking a course in drawing with pen & ink.  For one of our assignments we had to pick an unconventional drawing tool and use it to create different patterns, textures and designs with ink.  I chose to use a tapered wine cork, which proved to have endless possibilities.  This exercise really helps to push the boundaries of what we think of as drawing, forcing us to remember that any tool can be used to make art if we hold it right.

Before & After: Kitchen Makeover

Last weekend I decided to paint my kitchen light blue in an attempt to bring more colour into the apartment.  Here's some before & after shots, as you can see, matching the countertop to the wall colour makes for a very boring affair. We also have an ugly fluorescent light on the ceiling which we avoid turning on because the light is so glaring, not to mention the missing cupboard door on the sink....
A few hours later we've got track lighting, fixed cupboards & some colour! Yay!
